The Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management of Fisheries
College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi invites applications for the post of Senior
Research Fellow (SRF) under TANII Scheme on “Assessment of spawning
seasonality of major marine fishery groups along the coast of Tamil Nadu for
sustainable fishery management”. The candidates can appear for walk-in interview
at 10:30 am on 23.09.2022, Friday along with the application, bio-data affixed with
recent passport size photograph and original certificates at the Department of

M.F.Sc. (Fisheries Resource Management) / M.Sc.
(Marine Biology / Zoology / Any Life Sciences)
Hands on experience in fish sampling in the fish
landing centres / fishing harbours
Hands on experience in laboratory work on
reproductive biology of fishes.
Willing to travel extensively all along the coast of
Tamil Nadu for fish sample collection.
Willing to travel in the sea for collection of eggs
and larvae of fishes
The selected candidate is to be engaged in Fish
sampling in the Fish landing centres / Fishing
harbours, Data collection and analysis, Laboratory
work on reproductive biology of fishes, Recording the
biological data in the register, Collection of eggs
and larvae of fishes and any other scientific /
technical jobs that may be assigned from time to
time
Emoluments Rs. 35,000/- (Maximum Consolidated Pay)
Conditions governing the appointment:
The above vacancy is purely temporary and co-terminus with the scheme
The appointee will be governed by the regulations & rules which are in force
in the university for the contractual engagement or manpower
The cut-off date for all purposes including Age / Qualification / Experience
etc., is 31st August, 2022.
Unless a candidate shows Certificate / Provisional Certificate in respect of
Graduation & Post Graduation Qualification, his/her application will be
summarily rejected.
The final selection of the candidate will be based on the candidate’s
performance in the Interview and based on the selection committee’s
recommendations.
Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence, political or
otherwise will be treated as disqualification of candidature. No interim
correspondence / inquiry will be entertained.
No TA/DA shall be provided for appearing for the walk-in-interview or for joining
at the specified place
The places of posting indicated above are provisional and liable to change
subject to the need and essentiality in the scheme work
The job involves halting during visit to fish landing centres / fishing harbours.
The selected candidates may be required to travel in the sea for sample
collection.
The selected candidates will have to conduct extensive fieldwork involving
frequent travel, laboratory works and survey of different sites for sample
collection.
Any amendment in the notification will be published only in the websit
The selected candidates shall have no right/claim for regular appointment at
TNJFU at any point of time. Further, no claim for continuance or switching
over to any other vacant post is possible
The appointing authority reserves the right to defer the filling of above
positions now announced without assigning any reasons there for
