Junior Hindi Translator -02 UR

JUNIOR HINDI TRANSLATOR (Group –B) Level 6 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Pre-revised: PB-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200/-) with Central DA on Direct recruitment basis in NHAI, as per the details mentioned below. The number of posts advertised may increase or decrease at the discretion of NHAI.

Not exceeding 30 years as on closing date of advertisement
(relaxable as per Govt. of India rules applicable for different categories
/groups, as mentioned subsequently)

(I) Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi or English with English
or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level ;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or
English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective
subject or as a medium of examination at degree level;
OR
Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or
English, with Hindi and English as a compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree
level;

AND
(II) Recognized Diploma or Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-a versa or three years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in
Central or State Government office, including Government of India undertaking.
Desirable educational qualification : –
(i) Knowledge at the level of Matriculation of a recognized Board of equivalent of one of the
languages other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution
OR
(ii) Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a
recognized University.

Age Relaxation for concerned Applicants would be as follows: –

Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe : 5 years

Other Backward Classes : 3 years

SELECTION PROCESS:-

FOR JUNIOR HINDI TRANSLATOR
a. Only those Candidates who fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria (essential qualification, experience, age) will be permitted to appear in a Computer Based Test (CBT). The Admit Card will be issued online only to the eligible Candidates along with the date & time, exam centre and necessary instructions through the NTA Recruitment Portal (https://recruitment.nta.nic.in/). The Candidates will be informed through Public Notice /automated email / SMS, atleast 07 days before the CBT, for
downloading their respective Admit Cards.
b. The CBT Test will be conducted in one part only which will carry 100 questions. There will be negative marks at the ratio of 1:4, i.e. 1 mark to be deducted for 4 incorrect answers.
c. The shortlisted candidates on merit basis after CBT at the ratio of 1:10 will be called for Translation Test in New Delhi. The date & time and venue for the Test will be communicated in the Call Letter, which will be issued online through the above-mentioned recruitment portal of NTA. The shortlisted Candidates for Test will be informed through Public Notice /automated email / SMS, at least 07 days before the Test date, for downloading their respective Call Letters.
d. The final Merit List for selection to the Post(s) will be prepared at the ratio of 1:3 on the basis of the following criteria :
I. 50 % of the marks obtained in CBT,
II. 50% of the marks obtained from translation test.

e. For final merit list, if there are two or more candidates in same category having equal marks, the following shall be considered:
i. In case where the marks in CBT are same, the candidates who will have higher qualification will be placed higher in the merit list.
ii. In case, where the marks in CBT examination and qualification are also same, the candidate who had secured higher marks in higher qualification shall be placed higher in the merit list.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION / SYLLABUS :-

FOR JUNIOR HINDI TRANSLATOR
PART I (COMPUTER BASED EXAMINATION) (100 MCQs, 1 Mark for each question – 100
Minutes).
Understanding of the languages in English and Hindi; and its literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms. The questions will be of degree level.
PART II : TRANSLATION AND ESSAY WRITING (100 Marks, Duration – 01:30 Hours) :
The shortlisted candidates on merit basis after CBT at the ratio of 1:10 will be called for Translation Test.
Paper II will contain two passages for translation – one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English.
This Paper will test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
The level of the paper will be consistent with the educational qualifications as prescribed.
