A) Chemist
•
Essential: B.Sc or M.Sc degree with Chemistry
Desirable: Additional certification in data entry or office
management. Computer knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT)
Age:
40 years or below.
Salary:
Rs.21000 / month.
Job Responsibilities:

1. The Chemist should work in the District Public Health Lab/ Regional
   Water Lab (RWL)
2. The Chemist will be under the direct supervision of the District
   Microbiologist in the DPHL and Chief Water Analyst at RWL
3. Collect water samples from various water sources.
4. Conduct routine tests to measure water quality parameters (pH,
   turbidity, dissolved oxygen, contaminants).
5. Accurately document test results and maintain lab records.
6. Assist with field sampling, site visits, and environmental monitoring
   activities.
7. Perform chemical analysis to detect and quantify contaminants in
   water samples.
8. Use analytical techniques and calibrate/maintain lab equipment for
   accurate results.
9. Assist in preparing reports on water quality and potential concerns.
10. Monitor and analyze trends in water quality and identify areas for
    improvement.
11. Work under the supervision of senior water analysts.
12. During emergencies, the chemist should be reported for duty on any
    day including Govt. Holidays.
13. Any other duties specified in the DPHL/RWL.

B) Laboratory Technician
Qualification:
Essential:
•
Must have passed 12th standard with biology subject.
Must have passed Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT)

• 2 years course approved by the Directorate of Medical Education.
  Desirable:
• Additional certification in data entry or office management.
  Computer knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT)
  Age:
  40 years or below.
  Salary:
  Rs.13,000 / month.
  Job Responsibilities:

1. The Lab. Technician should work in the District Public Health Lab/
   Regional Water Lab (RWL)
2. The Lab. Technician will be under the direct supervision of the
   District Microbiologist in the DPHL and Chief Water Analyst at RWL
3. Maintain the overall cleanliness, safety of the laboratory and
   maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
4. Ensure that the glassware, plastic wares and equipment are kept
   clean.
5. Ensure proper sterilization and decontamination procedures are
   followed in the DPHL/RWL
6. Laboratory registration and receipt of samples.
7. Maintain necessary records of lab. Analysis done in the laboratories.
8. Preparation of weekly and monthly reports on the lab. analysis done
   in the laboratory.
9. Maintenance of stock registers and indents for supplies for the
   laboratory.
10. Bacteriological analysis of water sample for faecal contamination.
11. Assist the Rapid Response Team in sample collection during
    outbreaks of communicable diseases
12. During emergencies, the Lab. Technician should be reported for duty
    on any day including Govt. Holidays.
13. Any other duties specified in the DPHL/RWL.

C) Laboratory Attendant
Must have passed 10th standard.
Age:
40 years or below.
Salary:
Rs.8500/ month.
Job Responsibilities:

1. The Lab. Attendant should work in the District Public Health Lab/
   Regional Water Lab (RWL)
2. The Lab. Attendant will be under the direct supervision of the
   District Microbiologist in the DPHL and Chief Water Analyst at RWL
3. Overall cleanliness of the lab by regular mopping with disinfectants
   and fumigation procedures.
4. Maintenance of sanitation plan chart in the laboratory.
5. Washing of all the laboratory glasswares and plastic wares including
   test tubes and petri-plates.
6. Sterilization and decontamination of the laboratory products on
   regular basis
7. Proper care and maintenance of the Lab. Equipment in the DPHL.
8. Proper disposal of Bio-Medical Waste generated in the lab and
   maintenance of BMW registers.
9. Sample transportation between laboratories, whenever required.
10. During emergencies, the Lab. Attendant should be reported for duty
    on any day including Govt. Holidays.
11. Any other duties specified in the DPHL/RWL.

The recruitment committee is hereby instructed to co-ordinate with all the
District Health Officers and take necessary action to recruit the staff mentioned
above for the District Public Health Labs and the Regional Water labs by notifying in the District Official websites and by following the procedures without fail. The committee will be responsible for recruitment of the above
posts covering all the districts in their region. Job Description and scoringcriteria for all three posts are enclosed herewith.

The agreement should be signed by the candidates for a period of 11months only. The names of the recruited candidates along with a copy of the agreement should be sent to this office and Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, Chennai-5.

In this regard, all the DHOs are hereby requested to ensure timely
completion of the recruitment process. The committee is requested to complete
the recruitment process under Jal Jeevan Mission on or before 15.03.2025, and
send the details to this office by 17.03.2025.
