ENGAGEMENT OF JUNIOR ENGINEERS IN ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT, PUDUCHERRY ON CONTRACT BASIS
The engagement of eligible candidates as Junior Engineers on contract basis in
Electricity Department, Puducherry U.T on contract basis
JUNIOR ENGINEER (on contract basis) : 42 Posts
AGE, EDUCATIONAL / TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED;
Desirable:
A Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering of a
recognized University or A.M.I.E. (Electrical)
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics
Engineering from a recognized institution/ technical board with 3 years of experience after
acquiring Diploma in the field of operation and maintenance of power system transmission
and distribution from a reputed industry/utility
DIPLOMA:
(i) The Diploma Course should have been approved by the AICTE; and
(ii) The Diploma Certificate should have been issued by a State Board of
Technical Education.
DEGREE:
(i) The Degree Course should have been approved by the AICTE/UGC, as applicable
to the institution offering the Degree Course; and
(ii) The Degree Certificate should have been issued by a recognized
University/Institution.
(iii) In compliance with the policy of the AICTE & UGC on imparting technical
education, the Diploma/Degree certificates obtained from Institutions/
Universities/ Deemed to be Universities through Distance Education Mode will not
be considered as valid qualification.
EXPERIENCE (FOR DIPLOMA HOLDERS ONLY):
The 3 years of experience should have been acquired in the field of operation and
maintenance of power system transmission and distribution, not below the rank of
technician category from a reputed industry/utility. The validity and veracity of the
experience certificate will be got verified by the Government and the decision of the
Government shall be final in this regard.
(The Diploma / Degree certificates obtained from various institutions such as
I.A.S.E, Rajasthan , J.N.R.V. University, Rajasthan, V.M.R.F., Tamil Nadu, I.G.N.O.U., New
Delhi through Distance Education Mode will not be considered as valid qualification)
AGE LIMIT AND RESERVATIONS:
i. Upto 30 years as on 31/01/2022. (Unreserved / EWS-30 years, OBC-33 years and
SC/ST-35 years) (for PH candidates additional 10 years).
(UR-17, EWS-4, OBC-14, SC-07
Includes horizontal reservation of three vacancies for PwD category i.e., OL-02 &
HH-01 which are interchangeable in case of non availability under any category.)
Age relaxation permissible beyond the upper age limit
OBC : 3 years
SC : 5 years
MODE OF ENGAGEMENT/ PATTERN OF EXAMINATION:
The Engagement to the above post will be made strictly based on the merit of a
Written Competitive Examination, the date of which will be notified later. The candidates
who are provisionally selected in the competitive examination will be called for Certificate
Verification at a subsequent date.
INDICATIVE SYLLABUS:
Technical Knowledge: The syllabus for this part would include Basic concepts of
Electricity, Circuit laws, Magnetic Circuits, AC Fundamentals, Measurement and
Measuring instruments, Electrical Machines, Fractional Kilowatt Motors and Single phase
Induction Motors, Synchronous Machines, Generation, Transmission and Distribution,
Estimation and Costing, Utilization and Electrical Energy, Basic Electronics & Computer
basics.
Note:
The standard of questions in Engineering will be in the level of Diploma in Electrical
& Electronics Engineering. All the questions will be set in SI units.
Written Exam. In case of tie in marks in the written exam the candidate with higher
qualification would be preferred. If there is still tie, older candidate will be
preferred.
They will be paid a fixed remuneration of ₹ 33,000/- [₹ 30,000/- +
₹ 3,000/- (Conveyance Allowance)] per month

Applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria as mentioned above may apply online
through the official website, “https://recruitment.py.gov.in” from 28.03.2022 (10:00
a.m.) to 18.04.2022 (05:00 p.m.) candidates are required to apply through “Online
Mode” by following instructions mentioned in Part-I.
The hard copy of the online generated application along with self attested photocopies of
the Degree / Diploma certificate, Experience certificate and all other testimonials as
mentioned in online portal should be submitted to the “O/o. of the Superintending
Engineer-cum-HoD, Electricity Department, No.137, N.S.C. Bose Road, Puducherry –
605001” on or before 5.00 PM of 25.04.2022 either in person or by post. The application
should be sent in an envelope superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF
JUNIOR ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL) ON CONTRACT BASIS 2022”. This Department shall
